Each piece is created from various hard woods from around the world. He selects woods for their color and grain patterns to best represent the item he is creating.

He has a strong interest in art, studying art appreciation through courses at Temple University OLLI and visiting numerous art museums.
His work has been featured in regional shows, including Berry Basket Quilt Show, Garden Patch Quilt Show at Wheaton Arts & Culture Center, and the Markeim Arts Center in Haddonfield, NJ.

Phil resides in Haddonfield, New Jersey with his wife Rosalie who is a quilt artist.
