Lucille Kasprack

LK-ART-PROFILES-659-150x150I am a working artist and retired art teacher from southern New Jersey. I enjoy working in a variety of mediums; namely oils, watercolors, pastel and colored pencil. I have only recently discovered colored pencils and love the great form, detail and color you can achieve with them. Not to mention the cleanup is much easier compared to other mediums. But oils are my longtime favorite because of the process of building up the painting slowly layer by layer which enables me to achieve strong, detailed, vibrant, realistic paintings.

My subject matter includes florals, landscapes, seascapes and still lifes, which are my specialty. I enjoy studying objects, their physical properties like texture, shape, color and design and painting them in great detail; at the same time being very aware of the effects of the light and shade in and around the objects. Much of my inspiration comes from two masters of the still life: Paul Cezanne, the impressionist and Jean Baptiste Chardin whose work is known for its solid construction and respect for detail and form and also the spectacular florals of Henri Fantin-Latour.

The primary goal of my work is to paint pictures whose overall essence is achieved through the balance of form and color and the best placement of light and shade in the carefully constructed composition; and above all for the enjoyment and introspection of the people viewing them. My hope is that my paintings will help to enrich other people’s lives. See more of Lucille’s work at She can be reached at
