Art Educators of New Jersey is a juried exhibition in Markeim’s main gallery. Markeim is thrilled to again be exhibiting the artwork of the talented artists who teach in New Jersey. The 7th Annual Art Educators of New Jersey Exhibition is scheduled from December 1, 2017 through January 5, 2018. All arts educators currently teaching or living in the State, whether it be in preschool, K thru 12, undergraduate or postgraduate programs, are eligible to display their work. This exhibition will be a wonderful opportunity to inspire the community and your students with your creativity and talent. The exhibit also provides Markeim Arts Center an opportunity to honor and recognize these amazing teachers and their work.
The juror for this exhibit will be Lauren Arno. Lauren is a special education art teacher in South Jersey. She studied art education and art history at TCNJ and received her Masters Degree in special education at Rowan University. Though college exposed her to a wide array of art mediums, Lauren is self-taught with watercolor painting. She first fell in love with the medium as a young child watching her mother paint. Lauren strives to master the difficult medium seeking technical improvement with every brushstroke. It is important to her to breathe as much life and color to her subjects as possible. Her watercolor art is not about painting in the lines of a portrait, but capturing the nuances of her subject’s personality in her colorful layers of shapes. Lauren is a self-dubbed rainbow haired champion, fighting to bring happiness and purpose to others through art.PROSPECTUS
